Waseca football coach back home after collapsing during season opener
Waseca High School’s head football coach is back home after collapsing on the sidelines during the final minute of the team’s season opener.
Brad Wendland tweeted Wednesday, "Never been more happy to be home! Can’t thank you enough for the prayers and well wishes! Kim, the boys and myself are beyond grateful!"
After Wendland collapsed, two Mayo Clinic athletic trainers who were at the game and an emergency nurse rushed to his aid and started lifesaving measures.
Waseca High School activities director Joe Hederbare told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS on Tuesday that Wendland’s return home on Wednesday was expected but said it’s unclear when Wendland might return to the team.
