A Waite Park man who had an outstanding parole violation warrant for second-degree robbery was arrested Thursday afternoon in St. Cloud.
According to St. Cloud Police, officers from the department’s Community Response Team and Waite Park officers attempted to stop 39-year-old Johnathon Demetrius Herring at about 1:09 p.m. As officers tried to arrest him, they said Herring resisted and tried to get into a vehicle to flee. However, an officer used a Taser on Herring and arrested him on his outstanding warrants.
Police said Herring continued to resist and kicked an officer multiple times before being placed into a WRAP device to further control him.
Officers also found a handgun. Herring isn’t allowed to possess a gun due to his criminal history.
After he was taken to a hospital for evaluation, Herring was transported to Stearns County Jail.
Police said three officers suffered minor injuries during the arrest.
