Walz orders flags flown at half-staff in remembrance of civil rights leader, Congressman John Lewis
Gov. Tim Walz has ordered flags statewide be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset Thursday to honor Representative and civil rights leader John Lewis who died July 17.

“Congressman Lewis was fearless in his pursuit of a more perfect union,” Walz’s proclamation readds. “Congressman Lewis was a friend, mentor, and leader of character and integrity, and his values pushed the country to rise to a higher purpose and build a more fair and equitable nation.”

Flags will be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings. Individuals, businesses and other organizations are also encouraged to lower their flags to honor Lewis.
