Walker Art Center, MIA reopen doors to general public

Both the Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Institute of Art reopened their doors to the general public Thursday.

To help curb the spread of COVID-19, both museums have put the following guidelines in place:

MIA:

The museum will only be open Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special hours for more at-risk groups will be held Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Admission to the museum will remain free, however, tickets must be reserved in advance. A maximum capacity of 250 visitors will also be put in place.

Face masks will be required in the museum for everyone under 2 years old, and hand sanitizer will be available throughout the museum.

The museum coffee shop will be open, and the MIA store will only allow 20 visitors at a time.

There will be a single entrance to the museum that can be found at Third Avenue.

Walker Art Center:

The Walker Art Center will also require face coverings for all visitors, and will supply hand sanitizer to its guests.

For capacity purposes, the Walker will sell tickets online. Tickets will be available in half-hour increments.

Galleries will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Hours for those with greater risks will be 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday. Admission will be free from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday and every first Saturday of the month.

The Vineland Place entrance will be the only available entrance.
