Victim of Como neighborhood homicide identified

The man who died Monday after a shooting in Minneapolis’ Como neighborhood has been identified.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office says 36-year-old Mark Holmes O’Dell was the victim of the shooting near the intersection of Cole Avenue Southeast and 25th Avenue Southeast. Police found O’Dell at around 12:10 p.m. He was taken to a hospital but died less than an hour later.

Investigators said the shooting happened after an argument between a man and a woman.

The woman, identified as 39-year-old Janice Louise Hawkins-Green, was arrested and has now been charged with second-degree manslaughter in O’Dell’s death.

The shooting was the 60th homicide of the year in Minneapolis.
