USPS to set up mobile post office in south Minneapolis

The United States Postal Service said Wednesday that it will set up a mobile post office in south Minneapolis on Thursday and Friday to help serve customers' retail needs.

USPS said from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday, the mobile post office will be set up in the vacated Kmart parking lot at 10 W Lake Street.

There, customers will be able to complete any postal retail needs, like buying postage, sending a package or buying a money order. It will also accept cash, checks and credit and debit cards for purchases. However, PO Box services and package pickups won't be done at the mobile office.

USPS also said the Lake Street and Minnehaha Stations are still relocating operations and, as a precautionary measure, it has temporarily removed some collection boxes in Minneapolis and St. Paul. They will be put back in service when they deem it safe to do so.

With that in mind, customers from the ZIP code 55406 will be served out of the Main Post Office in downtown Minneapolis, and customers from the ZIP codes 550408 and 55409 will be served out of the Loring Post Office in downtown Minneapolis.

USPS reminded customers some services are available online.
