Union members ratify agreement with Allina
Members of SEIU Healthcare Minnesota have voted overwhelmingly to ratify an agreement with Allina, the union said Monday.
Among other things, the new contract for more than 4,000 Allina employees includes:
- A 5% pay increase over three years, with a 3% bump in the first year,
- Additional market adjustments in the first year for non-metro hospitals,
- A 9% pension increase over three years,
- Workplace safety improvements,
- Recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and a commitment to equity.
Allina workers reach deal to avoid strike
Lynn Carlson, a LPN, member of the bargaining team and Allina sector vice president, said:
"I’m excited that the members overwhelmingly voted to ratify this contract. From the first meetings many months ago to the strike vote in April to this ratification vote, we want to thank all of the members and our community supporters for their participation, hard work and strength to make this contract happen. We fought hard to win a contract that respects, protects and pays the workers who provide the best patient care in the world," said Carlson. "This contract includes wage and pension increases, pay bumps for non-metro healthcare workers to recruit and retain the best employees, workplace safety improvements, recognition of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and more. The debt we owe to the frontline, essential workers who kept Minnesota safe and healthy over this last year is immense, and we still have work to do, but I’m proud that our members fought for and won this contract."
