Two dead in Crow Wing County plane crash
Authorities are investigating a fatal plane crash that happened Saturday evening near Emily.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office says that, at about 6:45 p.m., deputies responded to Minnie Lake Drive to investigate a plane that had taken off but never arrived at its destination.
Law enforcement searched the area using a drone and located a downed Krucker Cygnet Ultralight Trike aircraft with floats attached in the woods near Minnie Lake at around 8:30 p.m.
Deputies found the pilot, 61-year-old Douglas Johnson of Emily, and passenger, 58-year-old Lee Cemensky of Las Vegas, Nevada, deceased.
This incident is under investigation by the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
