Turkey giveaway in Minneapolis benefits 200 families
Two hundred families in north Minneapolis received a turkey Monday thanks to a partnership between Al-Maa’uun and Islamic Relief USA.
About half of the families came to pick up their Thanksgiving meals; the others were delivered.
Al-Maa’uun helps neighbors all year long but says the need increases around the holiday season, and that need is even bigger this year.
“Many of our community members are less fortunate and rely on places like Al-Maa’uun and Islamic Relief to help with their holiday meals,” said Erycka Thesing, Al-Maa’uun executive administrator.
Organizers say there was a steady stream of people in the morning and more trickled in throughout the day.
