Truck strikes, kills woman and horse in Brainerd

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol are investigating an incident where a pickup truck struck and killed a woman walking a horse in Brainerd.

Deputies responded to an accident report around 6:56 p.m. Monday on Thompson Road near County Road 144 Southeast in Brainerd.

The sheriff’s office said the eastbound truck hit the woman and horse, who were walking on the shoulder.

Authorities found the woman, a 33-year-old who lived on Thompson Road, dead at the scene. The horse also did not survive.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that the truck driver, a 44-year-old man from Brainerd, was not injured.
