A 3-year-old child has died after accidentally shooting himself on Sunday evening, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said in an update late Monday morning.

Deputies responded to the call in Oak Valley Township around 5:40 p.m.

Although the boy was brought to a Wadena hospital for his injury, he later died. A GoFundMe identifies the boy as Rudy Sweere and asks, “Please, prayerfully consider helping the Sweere family during this time as they prepare to celebrate the vibrant life of Rudy.”

Authorities are still investigating the shooting.
