Thursday declared as Mel Reeves Day in Minnesota
Governor Tim Walz has declared Thursday as Mel Reeves Day in Minnesota.
Walz made the proclamation in honor of Reeves’ work as a human rights activist and community leader.
As 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS previously reported last week, Reeves died after battling COVID-19 on Thursday, Jan. 6, at the age of 64.
A memorial service will be held for Reeves on Thursday, Jan. 13, to honor his life and legacy.
Reeves was also a community editor for the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder.
