Teen seriously injured after falling 5 stories in Fruen Mill

A 17-year-old boy is seriously injured on Friday after he fell five stories to the ground inside of the Fruen Mill.

According to fire officials, at 10:23 p.m. crews responded to 301 Thomas Avenue North for a report of one had fallen several floors and was injured.

Once fire and rescue crews arrived, they found three teenagers on the scene and one of the teens who had fallen five stories to the ground floor, inside of the mill.

Crews had to cut through the fencing and plywood to gain access to enter the mill and rescue the 17-year-old boy. Crews climbed down one story with a rescue basket to reach the victim. Once crews reached the victim, they did a medical assessment of his injuries, safely package and secured him into the rescue basket and pulled him up and out of the mill, said fire officials.

He was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. It is unknown the extent of his injuries. The other two 16-year-old females had no injuries.
