Man identified from fatal I-35 crash in Chisago County
UPDATE 8/13/22: A Minnesota State Patrol report confirms one passenger died in a single-vehicle crash on Friday in Chisago County.
The report says 37-year-old Brian Eugene Newby died at the scene of the crash on southbound Interstate 35.
The Chevrolet truck was traveling on the interstate when it struck the guardrail and rolled into the median, according to the report.
Newby died after he was ejected from the truck.
The driver, a 50-year-old man, and the other passenger, a 33-year-old woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The woman was treated at Regions Hospital.
The report did not list cities of residence for any of the three people.
The driver was found with alcohol in his system, the report says. While the driver was wearing his seatbelt, neither passenger was wearing a seatbelt.
The roads were also said to be wet at the time of the crash.
The report did not say what factors investigators believe contributed to the crash. No further information is expected to be released.

INITIAL REPORT 8/12/22: A portion of southbound Interstate 35 in Chisago County is closed due to what the State Patrol now says is a fatal crash.
The crash happened in the 12 o’clock hour Friday, north of Viking Boulevard Northeast, between Wyoming and Stacy.
Traffic cameras appeared to show a medical helicopter, along with several other emergency personnel, at the scene at around 1 p.m.
The Minnesota State Patrol says it is investigating the crash, but didn’t immediately provide any other details.
