St. Paul Saints to host 'Nopening Day' celebration May 19
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the St. Paul Saints are one of many sports teams whose season is delayed. However, the team is finding a creative way to still have some fun with fans.
Wednesday, the Saints announced a "Nopening Day" celebration that will take place on May 19.
There will be a t-shirt giveaway in front of CHS Field from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and virtual festivities will begin at 6 p.m.
The online festivities can be found on the team's Facebook and Twitter platforms, and will include pre-game celebrations from the team's first game at CHS Field in 2015 followed by the a re-broadcast of the Saints vs. the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at 6:45 p.m.
Throughout the broadcast, fans will have chances to win prizes, and Sun Country Airlines will help the Saints honor everyday heroes with videos from various Twin Cities hospitals highlighting the men and women on the front lines of the pandemic.
The night will be capped off with a live fireworks show from CHS Field that will also be streamed online.
The Saints season has been postponed until July.
