St. Paul pharmacy burned down during riots rebuilds, reopens

Lloyd’s Pharmacy in the Midway neighborhood of St. Paul reopened its doors to the community Monday after being looted and burned down during the riots that followed the death of George Floyd.

Lloyd’s, St. Paul’s oldest independent pharmacy, built a brand-new building at 720 Snelling Ave. N., right where the original shop used to be.

As part of the reopening, Lloyd’s is holding a customer appreciation event through Friday this week, which includes a food truck, an ice cream truck and giveaways.

Reporter Brett Hoffland talked to the owner of Lloyd’s Pharmacy last June after it was reduced to a pile of rubble. The goal was always to fully rebuild, owner Jim Stages said. The store operated out of a smaller, temporary location since July of last year.
