Court records show 32-year-old Salvador Juan Battles entered the plea last week as part of a deal. Originally, Battles had faced another criminal vehicular homicide charge, which was specified as operating a motor vehicle in a grossly negligent manner.

Battles is now scheduled to be sentenced on the afternoon of Jan. 31, 2023.

As previously reported, the crash happened at the intersection of Cretin Avenue North and Marshall Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found the driver of a Toyota 4Runner had run a red light and T-boned a Chevrolet Impala. The Impala’s driver — identified as Isiah Desmond Valle-Kirk, of St. Paul — died at Regions Hospital.
