St. Paul man arrested for possession of 5 pounds of meth

A long-term investigation has led to the arrest of a 45-year-old St. Paul man who was in possession of 5.1 pounds of methamphetamine and 4.6 pounds of marijuana, authorities said Monday.

According to a release from the C.E.E VI Drug and Gang Task Force, the United States Postal Service was alerted to suspicious packages being shipped from Nevada to Eden Valley. The packages arrived at one of their facilities and a drug-detecting K-9 signaled at the packages. After a search warrant was obtained, the packages were opened and illegal drugs were found inside.

A controlled delivery was done where the man took custody of the packages in Eden Valley. Law enforcement then approached the man, who attempted to run away. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The case remains under investigation.

The man wasn’t immediately identified.
