St. Benedict, St. John’s to require vaccinations for all students and staff
The College of St. Benedict (CSB) and St. John’s University (SJU) will require all students, faculty and staff to be fully vaccinated for this upcoming school year as the spread of the delta virus continues to raise concerns.
In a letter to all CSB and SJU students, faculty and staff, the institution stated that everyone will need to have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose before returning to campus for the fall semester (Aug. 24 for employees, Aug. 26 for students).
The schools have also stated there will be an opportunity for exemption.
"This decision is driven by our desire to provide a safe, on-campus experience for our students and employees this fall and gives us the best chance for in-person classes, athletic events, community living and all the benefits our community has to offer," the letter reads, in part. "Following our guiding Benedictine values, we will continue to care for our community and show respect for all persons. We appreciate your flexibility and willingness to be adaptable for the good of the entire community."
