There are many breweries across the state, but only one can say they are the oldest.
The Schell’s Brewery in New Ulm started back in 1860.
"We’re the oldest brewery in Minnesota," owner Ted Marti said. "We’re the second-oldest family-owned brewery in the country."
The company produces 120,000 barrels of beer every year and has about 100 employees.
"I think it was a German town and a German brewery, so it’s a recipe for success," Marti said.
Three decades ago, the company bought Grain Belt. The brewery is on the National Register of Historic Places. Peacocks can be seen throughout the property.
"They just roam around and people love them," Marti said.
Schell’s beer is a tradition that can be found on tap in bars across Minnesota.
