Shoreview man charged in connection to 110-pound meth bust
A Shoreview man has been charged in federal court in connection to a meth bust of over 100 pounds.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Friday that 30-year-old Omar Damacio Ruiz-Penaloza is charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
According to a criminal complaint, law enforcement executed a search warrant on May 8 at an apartment in Shoreview. When officers entered the apartment, they found Ruiz-Penaloza in a bedroom wearing rubber gloves. Officers noted he appeared to be weighing and packaging methamphetamine.
The complaint states officers also saw an open suitcase containing several bags of suspected methamphetamine and a digital scale. A second suitcase with suspected meth was found in another room.
In total, about 110 pounds of meth and more than three pounds of cocaine was seized, the attorney's office said.
