Shooting victim who crashed onto I-94 identified
A victim who was shot and later crashed driving down an embankment near 49th Avenue North onto Interstate 94 Tuesday night has been identified.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as 29-year-old Harvey Jay Williams, from Minneapolis. The medical examiner said the man died due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Minnesota Department of Transportation surveillance video was obtained by KSTP, showing the car drive onto the highway. Traffic cameras show the moment the car drove down the embankment and crashed in a grassy area alongside the interstate. Two vehicles also were seen stopping to check on the driver.
When officers arrived, they found the man in the vehicle had multiple injuries, including an apparent gunshot wound. Investigators also believe the gunshots detected by ShotSpotter and the crash are linked, police said.
No arrests have been made in connection to this incident.
