Sheriff’s office: 2 men hospitalized after shooting each other near Hinckley

Two men are recovering after they apparently shot each other near Hinckley.

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a report of gunshots at a home on Cedar Creek Road, southeast of Hinckley, just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Soon after, dispatchers received a call from someone in the home saying they’d been shot.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, and a witness told deputies the men shot each other.

According to the sheriff’s office, the men both live on the property but in separate residences.

The men were airlifted to a hospital and underwent surgery for their injuries. They are expected to survive, the sheriff’s office says.

It’s still unclear what led up to the shooting, and the investigation remains active.
