Sheriff's office: Coworkers save man's life after forklift accident in Stearns County

A man's coworkers helped save his life Wednesday afternoon after a forklift accident in St. Augusta.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a medical incident near Galaxy Road and 65th Avenue at about 12:41 p.m.

A caller reported a worker had been thrown from a forklift, hit his head on the floor and wasn't breathing.

Initial investigation indicates 53-year-old Mark Lieser, of Avon, was driving a forklift with the forks lifted when they hit the wall above a garage door, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor.

According to the sheriff's office, coworkers had started CPR by the time deputies arrived. It continued until medics arrived.

Lieser eventually began breathing and was taken to a hospital. Authorities said he was alert and talking while being transported, but the outcome may have been different if not for his quick-acting coworkers.
