Serenade Foods frozen breaded stuffed chicken recalled; 4 sick with salmonella in Minnesota

Due to a possible salmonella contamination, Serenade Foods is recalling multiple frozen raw breaded stuffed chicken products. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, a total of 28 people have become ill from the product, including four from Minnesota.

The establishment is recalling about 59,251 pounds of frozen, raw, breaded and pre-browned stuffed chicken. The announcement was made Thursday and a public health alert on June 2 relating to these products.

According to a release, the products were produced on Feb. 24, 2021 and Feb. 25, 2021. To see all labels of products mentioned, click here. The items include:

  • 5 oz individually plastic-wrapped packages of "Dutch Farms Chicken with Broccoli and Cheese"
  • 5 oz individually plastic-wrapped packages of "Milford Valley Chicken with Broccoli and Cheese"
  • 10 oz box of two individually plastic-wrapped packages of "Milford Valley Chicken Cordon Bleu"
  • 5 oz individually plastic-wrapped packages of "Kirkwood Raw Stuffed Chicken, Broccoli and Cheese"
  • 5 oz individually plastic-wrapped packages of "Kirkwood Raw Stuffed Chicken Cordon Bleu"

FSIS has been working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and public health partners to investigate a multistate outbreak of 28 salmonella illnesses in eight states, including Minnesota. Onset dates range from Feb. 21 through June 28 of this year.
