Rush City man dies after semi runs off I-94 overpass

A Rush City man died Tuesday after the semi he was driving ran off an overpass in St. Joseph Township.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened just after 10:30 a.m.

According to the crash report, the semi was headed east on Interstate 94 when it ran off the overpass, plunging onto Jade Road before coming to a stop under the I-94 bridge.

The 60-year-old driver was pronounced dead; he wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time.

His name is set to be released Tuesday night.

It’s still unclear what caused the crash, which remains under investigation.

No other injuries were reported.
