Robbery reported inside residence near Dinkytown

The University of Minnesota’s Public Safety Department has issued an alert about a robbery early Monday.

According to the university, the robbery occurred at about 3:48 a.m. inside a residence in the area of 10th and University avenues, near Dinkytown.

University officials stated two men in their early 20s broke into the residence through a back door, assaulted those inside the residence and then left. Officials said "a knife was implied" and advised those in the area to use caution.

University officials said the Minneapolis Police Department is the agency handling the case going forward.
