Road worker hit while directing traffic in Spring Lake Township dies

A 59-year-old road worker who was hit in a construction zone in Spring Lake Township last week has died, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Ricardo Perez of Thief River Falls was struck just after noon on June 28 near the intersection of Marschall Road and 170th East. He died from his injuries three days later.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, an 87-year-old man was headed northbound on Marschall Road in a Jeep Wrangler when he hit Perez, a flagger who was directing traffic.
The crash remains under investigation.
