Road work along stretches of Summit Avenue in St. Paul to begin in 2023

Putting an end to the potholes: The St. Paul Public Works department announced Thursday a new plan to address deteriorating street conditions along Summit Avenue.

The 2023 project will take place along the scenic avenue from Lexington Parkway to Victoria Street and from Snelling Avenue to Mississippi River Boulevard.

The department states that previously-planned road work between Lexington Parkway and Victoria Street won’t be taking place, and that funding will be reallocated to address both of these sections of the avenue.

According to the department, maintenance treatments have yet to be fully determined but could include a mill and overlay or microsurfacing, depending on the conditions of the road’s foundation.

There will be an open house on Oct. 27 from 5-7 p.m. at Hidden River Middle School to allow community members to learn more about the project.

Additional details on the open house can be found here.
