Red Lake man sentenced in murder of wife
A Red Lake man was sentenced Tuesday in the death of his wife, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The release says Jeremiah Kingbird was sentenced to 16 years in prison for second-degree murder.
According to court documents, on Jan. 6, 2019, Kingbird and the victim were traveling in a vehicle to their home when the two began to argue and a fight broke out. Kingbird is said to have hit the victim on the head, used his hand to strangle her and then left her on the roadway.
The victim was later found and died at an area hospital.
When officers searched Kingbird’s car, blood was discovered on the passenger weekend. Court records say Kingbird later admitted to assaulting the victim.
