Recount scheduled for Minneapolis City Council race separated by 19 votes
A recount requested by the runner-up in Minneapolis’ Ward 2 City Council race has been scheduled for Friday.
Candidate Yusra Arab lost to Robin Wonsley Worlobah by just 19 votes in the Nov. 2 election. Incumbent Green Party Council Member Cam Gordon was unseated in the third round of ranked-choice tabulation.
The recount will take place at 9 a.m. Friday at Minneapolis Elections & Voter Services, 980 E. Hennepin Ave. The results will be handed over to the Municipal Canvassing Board afterward for acceptance and certification.
Only the votes for Arab and Wonsley Worlobah will be counted, and the slim margin means the recount will be publicly funded.
Ward 2 encompasses the University of Minnesota and Augsburg University campuses and the Como Southeast, Prospect Park, Seward, Longfellow and Cooper neighborhoods.
