Recent thefts reported from vehicles in Minnetonka parks

The city of Minnetonka put out an alert on Thursday stating that the police department has responded to several car thefts in city parks in recent weeks.

The Minnetonka Police Department said the incidents have been reported at Big Willow Park and Lone Lake Park. They said people are breaking windows to steal valuables, such as purses, backpacks and wallets, that are visible in plain sight.

Authorities asked the public to not leave valuables in your vehicles. Instead, secure them in the trunk or ensure they are not in plain sight, and lock your vehicle at all times.

If you have been a victim of theft from your vehicle, you can contact detective Pat Eggleston at 952-939-8554.
