Public’s help needed to find vehicle, driver in Inver Grove Heights hit-and-run
Help from the public is needed to find the vehicle and driver involved in a hit-and-run that injured a woman last week in Inver Grove Heights.
According to Inver Grove Heights Police, officers were called to the area of Blaine Avenue, south of Upper 55th Street, shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, for a report of a woman who had been hit by a vehicle.
Officials say the driver left the scene and drove south on Blaine Avenue.
According to Police Chief Melissa Chiodo, the 73-year-old Iowa woman suffered injuries that were so severe they caused organ damage. The woman also underwent several hours of surgery for her injuries.
Chiodo adds officers who responded to the scene received conflicting information regarding the possible type and color of the vehicle that left the area, and didn’t find any vehicles matching the descriptions on surveillance footage.
Neighbors are being asked by police to check their surveillance cameras for vehicles that passed their property.
Anyone with details that may help police with the investigation is asked to call 651-450-2530.
