Protesters gathered at the Capitol Wednesday to demand support for home care workers and their clients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The protesters are calling for a 15% temporary rate increase for workers during the pandemic.
Advocates are saying that people with disabilities and those who care for them have been too much of an afterthought during this pandemic that also affects them directly.
"I’m sick of being forgotten, cast aside, hidden, reduced to a body that simply isn’t worth the time or importance to help out. I’m sick of the game. Do your job and finish what you started," Adrienne Kleinman, a Minneapolis resident who has used a wheelchair since she was 3 years old, said of lawmakers.
Lawmakers have taken up the bill twice but have yet to pass it.
