‘Pop-Up’ skate park coming to Bde Maka Ska
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board announced plans for a “pop-up” skate park coming to Lake Street near Bde Maka Ska this summer.
Last summer, the city removed several unpermitted skate features from a parking lot near the lake. The city acknowledges the features “were very popular and there’s a lot of interest in a skate park near the lake.”
Park Board staff will repurpose materials from past projects into this new skate park and make new quarter pipes and ramps with cement.
In May, the park will be installed in the ‘north parking lot’ along Lake Street.
Local group City of Skate worked with the city to identify a location for the temporary skate park.
If you would like to provide input on the project, the city is asking experienced skaters to fill out the survey found here.
