Police: St. Louis Park standoff ends peacefully, 1 arrested

One woman was arrested and a second was temporarily detained after an hours-long standoff ended peacefully early Tuesday morning.

St. Louis Park officers responded to an apartment building near the intersection of Minnetonka Boulevard and Xylon Avenue at about 7:45 p.m. Monday, after receiving a report of a person inside being threatened with a firearm.

St. Louis Park SWAT and crisis negotiation team members then arrived on scene and spent about five hours working to communicate with the apartment's occupants.

Then, at about 4 a.m., authorities learned a fire had been lit inside the apartment, which resulted in the evacuation of the surrounding apartments, authorities said.

Between 4:25 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., authorities said two women emerged from the apartment in question and were temporarily taken into custody.

A search warrant was executed for the apartment and one female occupant taken into custody was transported for booking at the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center, pending felony charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
