Police respond to incident regarding alleged assault, negotiate with suspect before arrest made in Minnetonka

The Minnetonka Police Department is investigating after a man barricaded himself inside a residence before he was arrested Friday.

According to the city of Minnetonka, at about 4:15 a.m. police received a report of an alleged assault on the 3600 block of Shady Oak Road. A man had threatened others at his home, and then barricaded himself inside.

After hours of negotiations, police were able to arrest the suspect without incident at about 5 p.m. No one was injured in the incident, and there is no longer an ongoing threat to the public.

Shady Oak Road has since been reopened to traffic in both directions from Minnetonka Boulevard to Minnetonka Mills Road. 

No other details are available at this time, according to police.
