Police: Man shot while driving in North Loop with 4-year-old daughter

A man was shot while driving with his daughter in the North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis, police say.

Minneapolis police say officers were called at about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound near Seventh Street North and Oak Lake Avenue North.

Police said it appears the man was driving near Seventh Street and Lyndale Avenue when someone in another vehicle fired shots, one of which went into the victim’s vehicle — just missing his 4-year-old daughter — and hit the victim.

The victim then sped away to find a safe area but rear-ended a vehicle. The victim then kept driving to Oak Park Avenue, where he met with police.

Authorities say the victim is expected to survive and his daughter wasn’t injured. However, they were both taken to a hospital. Additionally, the man whose vehicle was rear-ended by the victim also wasn’t injured.

Police are still investigating the shooting.
