St. Paul police say a man is in the hospital with what they describe as possibly life-threatening injuries after he was shot in the back early Monday morning.

According to police, officers were called to the 1100 block of Westminster Street just after 3 a.m. for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found the injured man, who was then brought to Regions Hospital. His name and age haven’t been provided.

A large police presence followed, causing the street to be blocked off near Maryland Avenue East.

Although police searched the scene for a suspect, that person wasn’t found.

As of this time, police don’t believe this was random, and are continuing to investigate.
