Police investigating South Minneapolis shooting

UPDATE 12:10 p.m. – Minneapolis police say a shooting investigation is underway in the southern part of the city.

According to police, officers were called to the corner of 31st Street West and Lyndale Avenue South for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a person who had been shot, adding that person was then hospitalized.

As of this update, no details about the victim’s condition, age or gender have been released by police.

The intersection borders multiple neighborhoods, including South Uptown, Lyndale and Lyn-Lake.

INITIAL REPORT 8 a.m. — 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS is working to learn more about an overnight investigation in Minneapolis.

Several officers were in the area of Lyndale Avenue South and West 31st Street around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

Some were seen looking on the ground with flashlights, while others were blocking off part of the street.
