Police investigating after reported robbery, assault in Anoka
Police are investigating and searching for suspects after a reported robbery in Anoka on Monday.
Anoka Police said officers responded to a reported robbery in the 500 block of Madison Street at about 1:37 p.m. Police said the caller reported that she'd been robbed, her friend was assaulted and her car was stolen.
The victim told police four men approached her and her friend in a parking lot and one of the men displayed what she thought was a flare gun. After threatening to shoot them, the men robbed and assaulted them and then fled in the victim's car.
While officers were investigating, another law enforcement agency spotted the car traveling east on Highway 10. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled at a high rate of speed and law enforcement stopped their pursuit.
Another agency then followed and surveilled the vehicle, following it to Minneapolis, where the driver then fled on foot. Officers searched the area but didn't find the driver.
Authorities are still investigating.
