Police: 3 injured, 5 cited or booked after fight in Minneapolis
Five people were cited or booked on a myriad of charges after a fight broke out in downtown Minneapolis.
According to the Minneapolis Police, at 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a bar that reported a fight happening at Hennepin Avenue and 5th Street North. During this time, a report of a stabbing came in at the same location.
Officers arrived and were able to break up the scuffles when two people were found with substantial head injuries. As officers dealt with that, a crowd gathered and another fight broke out. Violence was also being aimed at the police during the time. A non-law enforcement person then sprayed mace/chemical irritant at officers striking several.
Additional officers were called in for support.
One officer was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with a head wound. The two original individuals who presented themselves with head wounds were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Five people were either cited or booked on a myriad of charges.
Investigators and patrol staff continue to work on this case at this time. No further information is available.
