White Bear Lake man hospitalized after Hugo motorcycle crash

UPDATE 7/30/23 – Authorities say a White Bear Lake man has life-threatening injuries following a motorcycle crash in Hugo.

An incident report says a northbound Toyota Sienna on Highway 61 was making a left turn to go west on 120th Street when the southbound motorcycle driven by 62-year-old Karl Skogen collided with the van at the intersection just after 12 p.m. Saturday.

Skogen was taken to Regions Hospital for his injuries. The State Patrol’s report adds Skogen was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Sienna, as well as his two passengers, weren’t injured.


INITIAL REPORT 7/29/23 – One person was seriously injured Saturday afternoon following a motorcycle crash in Hugo.

The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened at around noon on U.S. Highway 61 at County Road J.

Traffic cameras show a person being wheeled to an ambulance via a stretcher before the person was taken to a hospital.

That person suffered serious injuries, according to the State Patrol.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
