Pedestrian suffers life-threatening head injury after apparent hit-and-run on highway

A pedestrian is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after an apparent hit-and-run Friday in Hubbard County, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.

The State Patrol says it appears 41-year-old Alice Ann Blue Thunder of Park Rapids was walking on Highway 34 East in Henrietta Township sometime before 9:45 p.m. Friday when she was “struck by an unknown vehicle and an unknown suspect.”

The report says alcohol was involved on the victim’s end, but it is unclear in what capacity.

Responders found Blue Thunder lying partially on the highway with a life-threatening head injury. Medics flew her to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. As of posting, there are no additional details regarding her condition.

Roads were said to be wet at the time of the incident, but the State Patrol did not say if road conditions were a factor in the apparent crash.

Additionally, the State Patrol report did not say if authorities have formed descriptions of the suspect or suspect vehicle. Other unknowns include where Blue Thunder was standing when she was hit, and how authorities believe the apparent hit-and-run happened.

“Troopers are continuing to investigate this injury crash,” a State Patrol representative said. “If we need assistance from the public, we will either put something out for the public on our social media pages or in a release.”
