Man arrested after standoff in Oakdale

UPDATE: Police say the 51-year-old man was arrested at around 12:45 p.m. and taken to jail for the warrant.


Law enforcement is currently at the scene of an ongoing standoff situation in Oakdale.

It’s happening near Greystone Avenue North and 26th Street, not far from Stillwater Boulevard and Hadley Avenue North.

The public is asked to avoid the area.

According to the city, police officers tried to arrest a 51-year-old man for a felony threats of violence warrant at around 2:15 a.m. Friday. Officers confronted the man in his front yard and he ran inside the home.

A short time later, the man came out holding what appeared to be a long gun, the city says. While he didn’t fire the gun, officers retreated and the man then went back inside.

Negotiations have been ongoing with the man since then, and several Washington County law enforcement agencies remain at the scene.

No other details were immediately available but more information is expected to be released after the situation is resolved.
