Officials search for suspect in west-central Wisconsin
Law enforcement officials are searching for a man in west-central Wisconsin for a second day.
WQOW reports that a warning was issued in Chippewa County Friday night regarding a dangerous man in the area. The alert asked residents to shelter in place but the man wasn’t found.
After an overnight break, the search continued Saturday morning.
WQOW says the suspect’s parents reported that he had a weapon and left in a white Dodge Charger Friday night. Authorities later found the vehicle and started a pursuit but later canceled it. A short time later, a three-vehicle crash that involved the Charger was reported.
One person suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, and the suspect ran off through a cornfield, leaving behind a gun and his cellphone, according to authorities.
Saturday morning, the sheriff’s office told WQOW that the suspect, 20-year-old Chad Myszka, was spotted overnight trying to find water in Wheaton, just north of Eau Claire. A citizen reportedly called law enforcement by Myszka fled and the search continues.
Anyone who sees him is asked to call law enforcement.
