5 hospitalized after overnight crash in Minneapolis

Overnight crash at Portland Avenue and 15th Street

Five people were hospitalized, one seriously, following a crash early Friday morning in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police say an Audi Q7 was headed south on Portland Avenue when it ran a red light at around 1:45 a.m. and hit a Toyota Camry that was eastbound on 15th Street East. After the collision, the Audi continued down Portland Avenue, hit an unoccupied Honda Pilot and then landed on top of a Ford Fusion.

The driver of the Audi, a 27-year-old man, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries, police say. The other two people in his car as well as the two people in the Toyota were also taken to a hospital but their injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.

Authorities are still investigating the crash.
