North High School Principal to be placed on leave for remainder of school year

A principal at a high school in Minneapolis has been placed on leave for the rest of the school year.

Minneapolis Public Schools released a statement saying that on Monday, May 23, North High School Principal Mauri Friestleben will be placed on leave.

The leave will last for the remainder of the school year, the news release notes.

Dr. Michael V. Walker, the founding leader of the Office of Black Student Achievement (OBSA) will lead North High during this time.

MPS added that Assistant Principal Steve White will continue his role and work under Dr. Walker’s leadership.
