North Dakota man charged with threatening to kill probation officer
A West Fargo man who previously served time for threatening a federal judge is now charged with threatening to kill a probation officer.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 69-year-old Robert Philip Ivers was convicted of threatening to murder a federal judge and making threats on Sept. 14, 2018, landing him an 18-month prison term and three years of supervised release.
On Sept. 1, 2020, a year and a month after he was released, prosecutors say Ivers left a profanity-laced message for his probation officer, which violated his release terms.
A revocation hearing was held on Nov. 17, 2022, during which time he was sentenced to more prison time and supervised release. Afterward, he was taken to an interview room and started pounding his fists on a table, broke a chair leg, threw paperwork and continuously screamed “hate,” authorities say.
The attorney’s office says, as Ivers left the room, he extended his middle finger toward a probation officer and yelled, “I’m going to get some (expletive) to (expletive) kill you,” which led to his latest charge.
Ivers is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Minnesota Wednesday afternoon for his initial court appearance.
