North Dakota man arrested, charged in Moorhead shooting

A North Dakota man has been arrested in connection to an April shooting in Moorhead.

On April 22, Moorhead police said its officers, along with members of the Clay County Sheriff's Office, responded to the 1300 block of 19 1/2 Street for a reported shooting.

When they arrived, officers found the victim and suspect had fled the scene, the victim was later found uninjured.

Through investigation, authorities determined 43-year-old Steven Latee Ward, of Grand Forks, was responsible for the shooting. He was arrested in Melrose and charged with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault, being in possession of a firearm as a felon, felony drive-by shooting and reckless discharge of a firearm, according to police.

He's currently in Stearns County Jail.

The department said investigators determined Ward and the victim knew each other and it wasn't a random act of violence. No other individuals are expected to be charged in the incident.
